Features: Poem

Hey y'all!

As you can read below, our church camp just ended and many were moved by the experience. Anyway, one of those impacted by it was a youth member and she wrote a poem from it. Although simple, the words moved me and I would like to share it here with you all (yes, I have asked for her permission =D )

Here it is: -

I Need You, O Lord

Release me, O Lord,
From the sins of this world,
Let me in your fortress,
May Your power upon me be hurled

Speak to me, O Lord,
I yearn for Your voice,
Your words are like water,
With them I live, I rejoice.

Touch me, O Lord,
With Your everlasting love,
To the end of my days,
It's You I want to serve.

Fill me, O Lord,
With Your wondrous Spirit,
Lead me and guide me,
Day by day, bit by bit.

Overpower me, O Lord,
With your endless grace,
Against the Evil one,
Help me win this race.

I need You, O Lord,
Bestow your favour,
Reign in my life,
Forever and ever.

Fear God

My church just finished our Church camp on Sunday. It was an incredible experience. There were many who personally encountered God and others who were challenged to rise up to the occasion. I personally was one of those who were challenged but at the same time received affirmation of the decisions that I'm making. As for the details, I would rather keep them to myself for now as I continue to seek God with my direction in life. But one thing that I want to share on is the theme of the camp which is "Fear God".

I was reading my daily devotion book and (yes, I'm still in the book of Job) came upon the passage that amazingly talks about the greatness of God and how he is to be revered! Many times we the human race forgets that God is Almighty and Powerful. That He is the Supreme God that created us and can destroy nations if need be (Think about earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.). Yes, don't get me wrong. God IS our friend, our Father, and loves us dearly but many forget that God is also the ALL Powerful God that reigns from the heavens above.

Here is the passage from Job that is so appropriately fitted into the theme of the camp.

"Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice,
to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.
He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven
and sends it to the ends of the earth.
After that comes the sound of his roar;
he thunders with his majestic voice.
When his voice resounds,
he holds nothing back.
God's voice thunders in marvelous ways;
he does great things beyond out understanding.
He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,'
and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.'
So that all men he has made may know his work,
he stops every man from his labor.
The animal take cover;
they remain in their dens.
The tempest comes out from its chamber,
the cold from the driving winds.
The breath of God produces ice,
and the broad waters become frozen.
He loads the clouds with moisture;
he scatters his lightning through them.
At his direction they swirl around
over the face of the whole wrath
to do whatever he commands them.
He brings the clouds to punish men,
or to water his earth and show his love.

Great indeed is the Lord. Amen.

Broadway: Run Away with me

Sometimes I run across random videos or songs that I really like and here is one of them. The song is titled; "Run Away with me"  and is sung by Aaron Tveit. Enjoy!!

This guy singing actually guest starred in Ugly Betty season 4. Never thought then that he could sing so well. And also, after reading his biodata, he actually auditioned for the part of Finn on Glee.. Not bad... :)

Alright.. enough from me for now,

Ciao.

p.s.: Here's to random video's on Youtube... you make me happy..Weee!!!

The most typical face on the planet

I thought this to be quite interesting :).. Have a great read y'all!

From National Geographic:

In a world of 7 billion people
who is the most typical?
the world's most typical person
is right handed
makes less than $12,000 a year
has a cell phone
but not a bank account (less than 25% of us do)
so what does he look like?
The world's most typical person is male
males outnumber females (but just barely)
the median age of the world's population is 28
the largest ethnic group is han chinese
based on these traits
the
most
typical
person
is
a 28 year old han chinese man
there are over 9,000,000 of them
researches averaged 190,000 of their photos
to create a composite image

Ah... but he won't be typical for long!
by 2030, that person will come from India!!

Haha!! Quite interesting eh! there is actually more to the video feed on the website which I've linked to the title. If you have time, have a go at it.

That's all for now!

Ciao.

p.s.: Here's to us and out individualities! Cheers!

My Redeemer Lives

Am doing a devotion series that currently covers the book of Job and was struck by this passage:

"Oh, that my words were recorded,
that they were written on a scroll,
that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead,
or engraved in rock forever!
I know that my Redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand upon the earth.
And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet in my flesh I will see God;
I myself will see him
with my own eyes - I, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!"

Job 19 : 23 - 27

How amazing to read the poetic scriptures as said aloud by Job! That thousands of years before the coming of Jesus as the Messiah, Job already foresaw it and declared of the Redeemer that lives, who is also our witness and advocate in heaven, and who is our intercessor where "on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.(Job 16 : 21)" Amazing.....

Reading this passage reminded me of a song by Eugene Greco (made famous by Marty Nystrom):

My Redeemer lives,
and I will see his glory
as he works all things together for my good -
whatever things occur, of this I can be sure:
I know my Redeemer lives.

Even though I walk through the valley,
I will fear no evil,
he is with me;
and on the battlefield, although the pain is real,
my struggles soon will fade
as his glory is revealed.

Here's a video of the song (not original). Its not the best version of it but its the only one I could find in Youtube.

And while we're on the topic of My Redeemer Lives, here's another song with the same title sung by Nicole C. Mullen. The song is "attached" to an inspirational video of the famous father son team called Team Hoyt. Very inspiring indeed...

That's all from me for now.

Ciao.

p.s.: Here's to those who are reading the book of Job (and have read it before...) Cheers!

To my future daughter...

Photo sourced from here

I joined an abstinence course a few years back and one of the activities that they made us do is to write a letter to our unborn child.

So I decided to write to my future daughter :) I came across the letter that I wrote tucked in my desk drawer while cleaning it and wanted to share it with you all.. So here it is:

My dear daughter,

I am now at a time in life where I'm being challenged to hold on to the truth. The truth of my values and beliefs as a woman. My dear girl, the truth of the matter is that you are more precious than you can ever imagine. The fact that you exist shows how important you are.
As you now begin to embark on a journey of discovering who you are, let me tell you that when it comes to the matters of love, waiting for the right person is the best. Just as your grandmother waited for your grandfather and I, now waiting,  for your father, I pray that you too will wait patiently for God to provide you your love.
Be wise too when in a relationship. Save yourself for your marriage. The first time should be the most special, where you give your virginity to only one person. Your husband. Refuse all offers from men who do not respect you as a woman. Do not compromise your dignity but instead be proud of it.
Always know that I LOVE YOU. DEARLY. DEEPLY. WHOLLY.

Love,
Your mother.

That's all for now.

Ciao.

p.s.: Here's to my future child, I love you. And to my future husband, I'll be waiting ;)
